Stop #1 – 40th Anniversary Hemochromatosis Awareness Celebration Bus

The Canadian Hemochromatosis Society is celebrating its 40th anniversary by travelling across Canada to raise awareness for Hemochromatosis. To help Canadians learn more about this common genetic blood disorder, Canadian Hemochromatosis Society’s People and Programs lead, Liz Charyna, is hitting the open road on May 1, 2022 in Elsie the Bus. Charyna will be travelling from British Columbia to Newfoundland, to meet with local communities and those affected by hemochromatosis across Canada. On May 1, 2022, we will start our 40th Anniversary Cross Canada Hemochromatosis Road Trip in Victoria, BC by walking as a team and supporting the Hike for Hospice to raise funds for hospice care at Victoria Hospice. The Canadian Hemochromatosis Society tour bus will be parked on the walk route and our team will wear CHS t-shirts. As a team we have raised $600 to help keep Victoria Hospice care in motion. After the Hike, we’ll have a Pop-Up Hemochromatosis Awareness booth at our Bus. Information, games and prizes! As we drive across Canada we will look for opportunities to collaborate with and support others while we spread awareness of hereditary hemochromatosis. Join us!
