Through the decades, Christmas has been a special time of year. Families have cherished traditions and have also created new ones. Langley Centennial Museum is taking visitors on a journey into the past, starting in Pioneer times with nostalgic traditions, crafts, and toys from long ago and from their own childhood. Christmas through the Decades, which will be offered to families on Saturday, December 7, harkens back to days gone by through vintage crafts and games, a visit to the country store, fresh cut and hand decorated Christmas trees, and gingerbread cookies. Guests can listen to storytelling with Mrs. Claus, play with pioneer toys and vintage toys from the 1960’s through 1990’s, and even visit with Old Saint Nick himself. The event runs from 10:00am to 1:00pm. All this is being offered for the old-fashion price of $10 per family of four and a $2 donation for each additional child or adult. (Grandmas and Grandpas are welcome to attend too.) Preregistration is required by calling the Museum at 604.532.3536 or online at https://recexpress.tol.ca/Activities/ActivitiesCourseDetails.asp?cid=379333 This year, the Museum’s Christmas through the Decades event will be complemented by a special exhibition: Langley Collects, an exhibit that showcases the interesting and passionate collections of Langley residents, including special items from Expo ’86! The exhibit runs until January 16th and can be viewed at the Christmas through the Decades event.
