Darkness into Light provides an opportunity for people to connect with their local community, show support to those who have been bereaved by suicide and bring global awareness to mental health. From small beginnings in 2009, the DIL movement has grown year after year and now has over 200,000 participants, in 150 locations, in 16 countries, across 5 continents and has raised over $30,000,000 worldwide supporting numerous mental health services. Last year YEG had 188 registrants and over 50 volunteers participate. Edmonton’s 2nd annual Darkness Into Light will be held in the river valley at the Victoria park pavilion at 4:15 am on may 11th 2019 in solidarity with the rest of the global movement.
