TOD EMEL: A FOREST explores the impact of the recent mountain pine beetle epidemic on pine forests in central British Columbia. The epidemic is a study in the unintended consequences resulting from human intervention in complex natural systems. Reflecting on the similarities between pine beetle markings and his own artistic processes, Emel explores these connections in this new body of low-relief carved panel drawings. Curator – Leah Taylor.
