Serenades, Lollipops & Roses – Festival City Winds Intermediate Bands

Both Festival City Winds Intermediate Bands, under the direction of Artistic Director Wendy J. Grasdahl, are please to present a concert entitled Serenades, Lollipops & Roses on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 7:30PM in the Robert Tegler Centre, Concordia University of Edmonton (7128 Ada Boulevard – 73 St. south of 112 Ave.). As the concert title suggests, the evening will be full of fun music to provide the listener an escape from today’s news headlines. The Intermediate Two Band will explore Slavonic and American dances, a suite of old French songs (including The Duke of Marlborough Goes to War – better known as For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow); a typical day sailing on the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay; and a trip to the Old West with The Magnificent Seven. The Intermediate One Band will serenade the audience with music by Sammy Nestico, a Persian dance by Iranian composer Amir Molookpour, a classical & jazz mash-up of a Brahms waltz, a Bohemian Furiant (inspired by the Slavonic dances of Dvořák), and music from Great Britain (known as Albion in ancient Greek). Tickets for Serenades, Lollipops & Roses are $12 for Adults and $5 for Children (12 & Under), and can be purchased at the door.
