Gliga Fiddlers is a group of enthusiastic violin, viola, flute, guitar and cello players who play together and share our love for music and for our wonderful musical instruments. Under the baton of professional violinist and music teacher Roxana Whetham, we play a selection of tunes from various music genres such as Classical, Celtic, Americana, Klezmer, Gypsy Jazz, etc. The name of our group was inspired by the brand of the instruments we play, GLIGA, wonderful violins handmade in Romania. We pride ourselves in the diversity of our group; we come from various cultural backgrounds: Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Lithuania, Romania, Scotland, England, Israel, China, Japan, Singapore and the Philippines. Music is what brings Gliga Fiddlers together. We have been giving the gift of music to senior centres, care facilities, hospitals, women’s shelters, and fundraisers since 2014.
