Nobody but Harry Manx plays the blues on a 20-stringed Mohan Veena – a sitar / slide guitar. Manx spent five years in India learning the fundamentals of classical ragas, while adapting gospel and the acoustic blues he learned at the feet of such greats as Willie Dixon, Junior Wells and Buddy Guy. This glorious melding of roots, stretching from Mississippi to Mumbai, had Bruce Springsteen singing Manx’s praises. Taj Mahal and Ben Harper, too. “Bewitching,” trumpeted the storied, Guitar Player magazine. And as Manx’s skills blossomed, his music would grow more expansive and inspirational with the addition of a six-string banjo, cigar-box guitar, lap steel, and a stomp box, which earned him a trunk full of national awards. And now, for the first time in several years, Harry Manx returns to Kelowna to showcase his unique, inspiring talents.
