Cheryl’s Run

Cheryl’s Run is now in it’s 8th year supporting the Stollery Children’s Hospital and Canadian Blood Services. This years funds go directly to the Awasisak Indigenous Health Program which is exclusive to the Stollery and the one and only Indigenous pediatric health program in Canada, supporting indigenous families across Alberta, the North, and beyond. The Awasisak team will join us at our event where they will have a booth set up sharing in the indigenous culture with bead making and sharing in the program’s success at the hospital. This years run is on Saturday, September 21st in Laurier Park and as in previous years we’ll have a 10k run, a 5k run/walk and a kids mini obstacle run which goes the duration of the event. Our top fundraising prize is a trip to Yellowknife courtesy of Canadian North Airlines with accommodation provided by the Explorer Hotel and a Northern Lights hunting trip sponsored by North Star Adventures which is a world class adventure company. Our second and third fundraising prizes are a Samsung Galaxy smart watch from Shoppers Drug Mart, Spruce Grove, and a deluxe car detailing package from WEM Toyota. We also have a number of other prizes which we draw at the event donated by local businesses. All participants are treated to Purple Perogy lunch and Cookies by George at the finish line and we’ll also have some sponsors there handing out swag including BIRD, River Cree, Starlight Casino, Canadian Blood Service and 89.3 The Raven radio which will be broadcasting live. There’ll also be free massages courtesy of In Pursuit of Motion Physiotherapy.
