Vancouver Police are hoping the public can help them identify a man in an attack on a lesbian couple that happened in September.
On September 18, at about 5:15 p.m., a man boarded a westbound #135 SFU/Burrard Station bus at East Hastings Street and Kensington Avenue in Burnaby.
At about 6 p.m. two women boarded the same bus at Renfrew and East Hastings Street in Vancouver. Police say during the ride the two exchanged a kiss and that public display of affection appears to have triggered the man to become disturbed.
The two women got off the bus at East Hastings and Commercial Drive, and the man got off and began to follow them. Police say shortly after the man, without provocation, confronted and assaulted the two women, punching one in the face. He was chased off by several people in the area who came to the aid of the couple.
Police responded immediately, however they were unsuccessful in locating the suspect during an extensive area search. The suspect remains unidentified.
The punched victim was treated for a bloodied nose at the scene by BC Ambulance attendants.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 35-40 years of age, 6 feet tall and 220 pounds. He had short black and grey hair and facial stubble. He wore a black T-shirt, jeans and black shoes.
If you recognize this suspect, contact the Vancouver Police and quote file #13-155332 or you can anonymously leave a tip with Crime Stoppers.
