Students bake then build elaborate gingerbread houses for charity

HALIFAX – There’s a kitchen in the Akerley campus of Nova Scotia Community Campus that is bursting with imagination.

Boulanger baking arts students are creating some spectacular gingerbread houses with themes rooted in the Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland and the magnificent churches of Mahone Bay.

But the edible designs are not just for show: they will be showed for patients and families at the IWK Health Sciences Centre and the Ronald McDonald House.

The students will have a week and a half to construct and decorate the gingerbread houses, which will be delivered to their respective locations next Friday.
