Two elderly people died in a crash on a highway north of Winnipeg on Monday.
Two vehicles crashed at about noon on Highway 9 north of Petersfield, about 50 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
A 72-year-old man driving a northbound vehicle lost control and slammed into a southbound vehicle driven by a 51-year-old man who had an 82-year-old passenger, police said.
The 72-year-old man driving the northbound vehicle and the woman in the southbound vehicle died in the collision.
The 51-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries, RCMP said.
All three people are from the rural municipality of St. Andrews.
Images from Global’s Skyview1 helicopter showed one of the vehicles upside down in the ditch.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
