Vancouver woman stuck on Westjet flight on LAX tarmac after shooting incident

Flights from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) have not been impacted after a shooting incident at the U.S.

But YVR officials are still recommending to people travelling to or via Los Angeles today to check their website for any delays.

It’s also recommended that B.C. travellers flying out of Washington state using Allegiant Air, Frontier, JetBlue or Spirit, flights, check with their airlines before heading to the airport.

Vancouver public relations specialist Marnie Wilson spoke to Global News from her plane which is currently stuck on the tarmac at LAX. They touched down at 10:45 a.m. PT and have been on the tarmac for an hour.

“We are just being held in the aircraft on the tarmac, waiting in line, a number of other planes are on the tarmac in the same situation as us, we are going to wait and hopefully deplane shortly. they haven’t given us much more information than that.”

“Everyone seems pretty calm and patient, but it’s a little hot and stuffy in here,” says Wilson.

She says most people on the plane are using their smartphones to find out what’s happening inside the terminal.

“It’s just terrible.”

“I have not seen any aircraft taking off, and I have not heard anything about the connecting flight.”
