BRAMPTON, Ont. – A young man who had been in critical condition after falling from a vehicle while “car surfing” has died of his injuries.
Peel Region police say the 19-year-old had been riding on the trunk of a Honda Civic in Brampton, Ont., on Tuesday afternoon.
The man fell off the car and struck his head on the pavement.
Friends of the victim tell Global News his name is Royal Virk.
A 16-year-old boy who was driving the car is charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
Those charges, however, are expected to be upgraded.
The 16-year-old was released from police custody on a “Promise to Appear” and will appear in court at a later date.
Police are asking anyone who saw the incident to call them.
