TORONTO – Several animals and people were rescued from a west-end Toronto home after an overnight fire.
The fire started shortly before 1 a.m. at a house on on St. Helens Avenue near Bloor and Landsdowne.
Emergency crews rescued three people, five cats, a turtle, some birds and a gerbil.

Toronto EMS treated one person on scene and fire fighters used oxygen masks on the cats.
