Health problems delay Brazeau’s court date

Video: Crown prosecutor Sylvain Petitclerc discusses the delay to Patrick Brazeau’s court date

GATINEAU, QC – Sen. Patrick Brazeau’s next court date has been delayed until Feb.14, 2014 because his lawyer says he has “health problems.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Brazeau was not in court Tuesday.

Crown prosecutor Sylvain Petitclerc said he has a few details about Brazeau’s health problems but wouldn’t elaborate or say if they are serious.

Brazeau’s lawyer refused to comment on the health problems.

The suspended independent senator was set to appear in court to face charges of assault and sexual assault stemming from an incident last February. It is expected a trial date will be set next winter.
