WATCH: Crash victim revived at the scene

UPDATE: 4:20 p.m. Monday: RCMP confirm both drivers are from Vernon — a 20 year-old male and 38 year-old female. The male has non life-threatening injuries. The female is listed in critical condition.

UPDATE: 10:00 a.m. Monday: Two people were rushed to hospital, one with very serious injuries, following a head-on collision in Lake Country Monday morning.

The crash happened just north of Crystal Waters Road on Highway 97 where a southbound car collided with a northbound car.

The woman driving the southbound car has been rushed to Kelowna General in critical condition.

Witnesses say the woman wasn’t breathing but a passerby managed to revive her before she was taken to hospital.

The man driving the other car suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Vernon Jubilee hospital.

A traffic analyst has been called to the scene.

No names have been released.

Both drivers are said to be local residents.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

UPDATE 9:45 a.m. Monday. Single alternating traffic. One lane in each direction.

LAKE COUNTRY — A crash around 8:30 this morning on highway 97 has closed the highway in both directions.

It’s in the area 2 km south of Bailey Road and has at least one vehicle in each of the north and southbound lanes blocking traffic.

No word as yet on a cause or the severity of any injuries or when the road may be reopened.
