TORONTO – Fire officials and police are investigating after an explosion blew out a 15th floor apartment window in Mississauga early Friday morning.
Peel police, fire and EMS were called to 2699 Battleford Road in Mississauga near the Erin Mills Parkway and Britannia Road area concerning a loud bang from an apartment unit.
Fire officials say a pot of burning grease had been dropped in the middle of the kitchen floor but they don’t know yet if that’s the cause of the explosion.
EMS treated one man with burns to his hands.
Numerous residents on the side of the building where the blast occurred were told to leave their units.
Firefighters are still on the scene because they are concerned that the window could be unstable and fall.
