Montreal bus video seems to show culture clash

A still from an online video that allegedly showed a woman in a headscarf being berated by a man on a Montreal city bus.

MONTREAL – A video that seems to show a man and a woman wearing a headscarf arguing on a Montreal city bus is being described as an example of inter-cultural tensions in Quebec.

The exclusive video obtained by Huffington Post Quebec was apparently filmed while riding the 69 Gouin bus during the afternoon of August 28.

In the video, a man is shown berating another passenger, a woman wearing a hijab, telling her to go back to her country.

He shouted at her, accusing Muslims of “zero integration,” and suggesting that there is no freedom when women and men of Islamic faith are divided.

“Men on one side, women on the other, how is that freedom?” he yelled, as fellow passengers studiously ignored what was going on.

The woman did not take the abuse sitting down, telling the man that he is a coward and suggesting that he shut up.

The argument apparently continued until the man got off the bus.

Global News has not independently confirmed the authenticity of the video.
