Winnipeg Jets fans optimistic about season, downtown business hope to cash in

Fans happy to see the Winnipeg Jets return.

The Winnipeg Jets are back and fans are hopeful.

“I’m looking forward to a good season, we almost got to the play offs last year, so hopefully this year will be our year,” said one fan.

Another told Global News fans had nothing else bu to stay positive.

“I think its going to be a good season, compared to the last couple, no where else to go but up.”

Fans aren’t the only ones looking forward to  a full season of hockey action, downtown businesses expect a boost in revenue.

Saturday’s game against the Ottawa Senators will be the first home game experience for the Shark Club in City Place.

“We’ve been open for about sevens now, so we have been building up to game day,” said Christopher Manalasta with the Shark Club. “Everyone is super pumped, it’s a pretty electric crowd.”

Moxies at MTS Centre is ready to rack up another full season after the lock-out shortened last year’s.

“This is game one for us, being an exhibition game or not, this is the start of the season and you know the energy is palpable,”  Manager Anton Pradinuk said.  “We’re downtown on the street, we hear the buzz.”

This year’s fans can also check out a new mobile merchandise shop across from the MTS Centre for fans wanting to suit up before the big game.
