Sci-fi and fantasy stars descend on Montreal

TORONTO — A sea of C-list stars is flooding into Montreal this weekend for Comiccon, taking place at the Palais des congrès.

Star Trek icon George Takei, X-Files star Gillian Anderson and The Lord of the Rings actor Sean Astin are among the sci-fi and fantasy celebrities scheduled to meet and greet their fans — for a price.

Ticket prices range from $20 for a day pass to $175 for three days of VIP access. Photo ops, autographs and meet-and-greets are extra.

A chance to meet Jay & Silent Bob stars Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes, priced at $149, is sold out.

Some of Montreal Comiccon’s highest-profile celebrity guests have cancelled their appearances — including Carrie Fisher, Jamie Bamber, Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff — but the list still includes Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Gallactica), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones), Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk) and Margot Kidder (Superman).

Pro wrestling fans will have a chance to see Bret “Hitman” Hart, Chris Jericho and Mick Foley.
