Two Winnipeg police officers were hurt in a car crash in St. James Thursday afternoon.

A witness told Global News the Winnipeg police cruiser was travelling with its emergency lights and sirens on when another vehicle collided with it at Portage Avenue and Berry Street at about 3:30 p.m.

The police car crashed into a hydro transformer.

Two police officers were immobilized on backboards by paramedics in preparation for the trip to hospital in an ambulance; EMS crews were also seen attending to a woman apparently injured in the crash in the other car involved. It’s not believed the injuries were serious or life-threatening.
