MAFFS air drop on Rim wildfire by 146th Air Wing – Aug. 19
As the Rim Wildfire continues to rage in California, Air National Guard aircraft equipped with the Modular Airborne Firefighting System or MAFFS have been diligently battling the blaze from the air. The California National Guard’s 146th Air Wing are one of the main crews with MAFFS-equipped C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft performing drops on the Rim wildfire. Now you can take a look from inside the cockpit and get the pilot’s perspective at the massive wildfire as these firefighting marvels prepare for a drop. The videos taken from August 19-23rd, 2013, show how the wildfire continued to grow in size and intensity.
