A 33-year-old Toronto man will appear in court Monday, charged with the murder of retired dentist Gerald Robert Brown, 67, in his Annex apartment.
Mr. Brown was discovered by a family friend in a Victorian home on Bedford Road, near Davenport Road and Avenue Road, on Wednesday afternoon.
The accused appears to be the roommate of the deceased.
A post-mortem "determined the cause of death to be a sharp force wound to the neck," police said in a news release.
On Friday, James Chalaturnyk, 33, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
Police had previously told reporters that they were questioning Mr. Brown’s roommate, a man in his 30s. Neighbours told Global News last week that the roommate’s name was James.
