Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo spoke out for the first time since the team traded Cory Schneider, a move he said “floored” him, according to an interview with TSN.

Luongo told TSN reporter James Duthie that although he will report to Canucks training camp, his future in Vancouver remains uncertain.

The veteran goalie wanted to be traded and although the Canucks tried to accommodate him, his US$64-million contract held both parties back.

When Schneider was shipped to the New Jersey Devils, Luongo was forced into the number one spot, after losing it to his back up after several lacklustre seasons.

Duthie tweeted about the interview Friday, saying Luongo revealed he had serious talks with the NHLPA about the possibility of voiding his deal and walking away from $40 million.
