Canada’s Tatiana Maslany wins TV critics award

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Canadian actor Tatiana Maslany was one of the big winners at Saturday night’s 29th annual Television Critics Association Awards in Los Angeles.

The Regina native who now lives in Toronto was honoured with the Individual Achievement in Drama award for her portrayal of Sarah Manning in the made-in-Toronto series Orphan Black.

Other winners included Breaking Bad, The Americans, Game of Thrones, The Big Bang Theory, Parks and Recreation and comedian Louis C.K.

The TCA membership includes more than 220 professional TV critics and journalists from the United States and Canada.

The critics gave Behind the Candelabra the award for Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries and Specials.

The TCA also bestowed a Heritage Award upon classic sitcom All in the Family (1971-1979), for the cultural and social impact the program has had on society.

Barbara Walters was presented with a Career Achievement Award for her influence in covering news and information.
