Watch: Pot raids in three posh Winnipeg neighbourhoods

Police say they’ve broken up a large marijuana growing operation that operated in three upscale south Winnipeg neighbourhoods.

Officers raided homes on Breton Bay in Royalwood, de la Seigneurie Boulevard in Island Lakes and Prairie Smoke Drive in Sage Creek on Tuesday morning. Police say the busts came after a “lengthy investigation.”

In a news release Wednesday police detailed what they found at each location:

First 100 block of Prairie Smoke Drive:

  • 649 marijuana plants, estimated street value: $726,880
  • 1/2 pound dry marijuana, estimated street value: $1,500
  • Grow equipment valued at $20,000

First 100 block of Breton Bay:

  • 577 marijuana plants, estimated street value: $646,240
  • 3/4 pound dry marijuana, estimated street value: $2,250
  • Grow equipment valued at $20,000

400 block of de la Seigneurie Boulevard:

  • $3,700 in Canadian currency

A 53-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were arrested and later released on a promise to appear in court on the following charges:

  • production of controlled substance (marijuana),
  • possessing a substance for the purposes of trafficking (marijuana), and
  • possessing the proceeds of crime.
