Montreal police officer injured in Cote St. Luc standoff

MONTREAL – Montreal police say an officer may have been shot Tuesday in an incident involving an elderly man barricaded in his house.

With details still murky, police said the SWAT team member was either struck by a bullet — or slammed into an object — during an ongoing standoff.

A written statement from police described it as a “bruise” on the foot. The statement says it’s not clear whether the injury was caused by a bullet or impact with an object.

Another police spokesman explained later that there was indeed a gunshot from behind the door — but it’s not clear what caused the subsequent injury.

Police blocked off several streets as they attempt to resolve the incident peacefully. It was still ongoing at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
