Missing senior with health issues escapes slough

SASKATOON – Saskatoon police have located a 78-year-old missing man who escaped a slough with his car.

Orest Zabinsky, 78, left his Saskatoon residence on Tuesday night in his vehicle and had not been in contact with family members since then.

The Saskatoon Police Service received reports that a car was in a slough just outside of the city.

Officers found Zabinsky on Thursday morning driving on a road.

Police say there was evidence the car had been in the slough but he managed to get himself out.

Zabinsky was sent to hospital as a precaution. He suffers from numerous health issues.

*Saskatoon police said in a previous release that Zabinsky was located in a slough.
