A local fisherman helped rescue a whale off the coast of Virginia Beach – and it was all caught on video.
Fisherman Adrian Colaprete first spotted the whale having difficulty a ways in the distance. When they got closer, they made a startling discovery: an endangered Northern Right Whale, tangled in a fishing rope so badly that it was unable to move or free itself.
Colaprete was able to cut the lines holding the whale captive in a dramatic and extremely personal example of man coming to the aid of a massive underwater creature.
The best part? He captured the entire ordeal on video, allowing millions around the world to live the experience of freeing a massive whale through his eyes and ears.
