The Burrard Hotel has undergone a makeover that made it the centerpiece of a city sponsored party last month, but that transformation also prompted noise complaints from some residents of a neighbouring apartment building.
David Earhart who lives nearby says the noise was overwhelming.
“It is so loud that I can’t even listen to the television in my own living room because it’s louder than that.”
Earhart says he’s called the city, the police and the BC Liquor Board to complain about the issue.
He says for him the noise is the final straw in a city he says ignores too many residents.
“I guess I am at a point where I have nothing left to say except good-bye. I am completely fed up.”
The hotel takeover party last month had crowds lined up to get in. Every room had been taken over by artists, skateboarders, and others out for a fun time.
The hotel manager at the Burrard says they didn’t receive any complaints after the big party and they fully support local talent.
Dan Post with Jamcouver, the organizers of the event says they got nothing but positive feedback about the party.
“It was a hotel takeover and these things are to be expected to some degree, but in terms of the outlying communities around the Burrard, it was never our intention to have a negative impact on them.”
