TORONTO — Canadian rockers Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger tied the knot on Canada Day in France.

According to Us Weekly, the couple exchanged vows in front of about 50 friends and family members at Chateau La Napoule in Mandelieu, France and partied until dawn.

Lavigne, 28, and Kroeger, 38, were engaged last August.

It is the first marriage for Kroeger, a native of Hanna, Alberta. He is the lead singer of Nickelback.

Lavigne, who was born in Belleville, Ont. and raised in nearby Napanee, was separated from Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley in 2009 after about three years of marriage.

The “Complicated” singer told Us Weekly recently that Kroeger was letting her plan the wedding.

“I’ve been doing it, I’m the girl,” she said. “I’m the one who has the crazy vision and he’s letting me be me. It’s a lot and I just want to make sure I really enjoy this amazing time.”

Lavigne told the magazine she wanted her guests to have a “once in a lifetime experience.”

Monday night’s celebrations reportedly included fireworks over the Mediterranean.

Lavigne’s fifth studio album — on which she collaborated with Kroeger — is due out in September. Kroeger has said Nickleback will release a greatest hits album this year and a new album in 2014.
