HALIFAX – A woman attempting to row across the Atlantic Ocean on her own and without a support boat is still waiting to leave.

Mylene Paquette of Montreal arrived in Halifax almost two weeks ago with her 24′ by 6′ foot boat that will take her on a 100 day journey to Lorient, France.

However, inclement weather has meant the rower does not have the right window to push off and away from the Nova Scotian coast.

Paquette tells Global News that she is hopeful that she can leave sometime next week though she does not have an exact date.

The rower says she needs better weather and, most importantly, good winds for her departure.

While Paquette does not have a deadline that she has to leave by, she notes that the delay is getting expensive and is crossing her fingers that she does not have to wait too much longer.
