TORONTO — Reality TV star Kate Gosselin denied Tuesday she is racist and said a photo showing her slanting her eyes was taken from her computer without permission.

“This was a happy memory of mine,” Gosselin wrote, referring to the photo that appeared on Twitter on Sunday. “It was a happy time for me and Jon, smiling and ‘goofing off’ together.”

The Jon & Kate Plus 8 star explained both she and Jon put on the “Asian dress up wig” that a fan had sent them and posed for photos. “Naturally, I ‘slanted’ my eyes to show him my best Asian impression, which made him smile.”

Gosselin pointed out that Jon, her ex-husband, is half-Korean and the couple has eight biracial children.

“I’m quite certain that I’m the last person that could be called a racist,” she wrote.

Gosselin said the photo was taken on her phone and saved to her computer. The photo, she added, was “taken and misused without my permission and opportunistically turned into something that it never was intended to be.”
