Roughly 20 residents living near 49th and Oak Street in Vancouver held a protest today to block a 15 metre cell phone tower from being erected in their neighbourhood.
The protestors held placards, and parked their vehicles around the site which is located close to a strip mall, a preschool and dozens of homes.
Two protestors claim they were hit by a Telus truck carrying the cell phone tower as it tried to get through to the site. Those allegations are being investigated but are so far unfounded. Residents say they are worried about their health and have collected about 800 signatures to protest the tower in their neighbourhood.
