State of Emergency for Lethbridge County

A local state of emergency has been declared after the opening of the Oldman River floodgates.

Alberta Environment has issued a Flood Warning downstream from the Oldman Dam.

Residents along the river valley are being evacuated to Lethbridge and are asked to register at the downtown Administrative office at #100 4th avenue South, Lethbridge.

The County asks that residents heed evacuation warnings, stay away from the river valley and to not drive through flooded areas.

A flash flood of 2500 cubic meters/second is expected by the county.

Approximately 1,000 customers within the County of Lethbridge are without power at this time including Turin, Iron Springs and Monarch. Fortis is working to restore power.

Water over paved road (Westview Acres Road) just west of Calvin Christian School. Approx. one foot deep.
