TORONTO — A Canadian woman has come forward to claim rapper Kanye West cheated on girlfriend Kim Kardashian with her.
Leyla Ghobadi, a native of Montreal, told Star magazine she met West after being invited backstage at his July 2012 concert in New Jersey. She claimed she turned down his initial advances because she knew he was in a relationship with Kardashian.
But, according to Ghobadi, West told her the relationship “was for publicity and nothing serious.”
The 24-year-old part-time model claimed she went to West’s hotel room.
“We began to make out for a while and next thing I knew, we were both naked and having sex,” she told Star.
Ghobadi said she had another rendezvous with West last October — when Kardashian was pregnant with West’s baby.
Kardashian’s representative has denied the report.
In a statement to TMZ.com, a representative for West said: “This most recent attack on Kanye West and his family is totally without merit. It’s a blatant attempt by a misguided individual who is clearly seeking publicity … This is a sad attempt to hurt two people trying to live their lives.”
Star’s parent company American Media Inc. routinely pays for interviews. It is not known how much, if anything, Ghobadi received.
The model’s friend Chris Karls, who drove with her from Montreal to New Jersey for the concert, supported her version of events.
“Kanye was just really aggressive in his approach to her,” Karls told Star.
According to her Facebook profile, Ghobadi is originally from Chomedey, Quebec and studied marketing at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University. A resident of Montreal, she works as marketing director at the Diamond Spa in Dorval and as a server at the New City Gas club on Ottawa St. in Montreal.
Ghobadi could not be reached for comment. A woman who answered the phone at Diamond Spa on Wednesday morning said Ghobadi was not available.
“This is going to destroy the Kardashian family,” Ghobadi is quoted telling Star. “It’s bad. It’s really bad. It’s just embarrassing. But if I were Kim and about to have a baby, I would want to know.”
In 2003, Star‘s sister publication, the National Enquirer, revealed a romance between Montreal resident Jennifer Perzow and married actor Ethan Hawke. Perzow later said she believed Hawke and Uma Thurman were separated at the time.
