TORONTO – Former South African President Nelson Mandela’s condition remained serious but stable Monday morning in a Pretoria, South Africa hospital.
Global News reporter Sean Mallen said his flight to the scene was full of international journalists, who have set up outside the hospital where it’s believed the 94-year-old was admitted Saturday to treat a recurring lung infection.

Mandela’s family members were seen entering the hospital where the anti-apartheid leader is thought to be staying on Sunday.

Mallen describes a change in tone from South African citizens over the past few days, with a sentiment building that perhaps it’s time to let the aging man go. But some remain resolute in their prayers for his recovery, including some women who work a few doors down from Mandela’s home in Johannesburg.
