Officers search for aggressive bear attacking livestock in Surrey

Conservation officers in Surrey are looking for an aggressive black bear after it killed livestock in the area.

Residents say a full grown bear has been stalking animals in the area around 96 Avenue and 176th Street for days.

It has already killed a goat and attacked a llama, and residents fear their other animals may be at risk.

Conservation officers say a property owner shot at the bear with a rifle and it may be injured.

A number of bears have been spotted in the Fleetwood area recently and just last night officers caught a  smaller bear in Tyne Head Regional Park.

The smaller bear will likely be relocated.

Officials are urging residents to be vigilant with garbage removal and to avoid having fruit trees and other attractants in yards in order to discourage bears.
