Part of Downtown Vancouver evacuated due to gas leak

Vancouver Police evacuated the 900 and 1000 blocks of Granville, Howe, and Hornby, including the Law Courts, as well as the 700 and 800 blocks of Nelson, due to a gas leak Wednesday morning.

Crews working in a construction site in the 700 block of Nelson hit an underground gas line.

Fortis was able to get the leak under control and have started repairs.

Traffic is backed up and people are advised to avoid the area.
