It wasn’t the top of the list, but Abbotsford was named the fourth most boring city in Canada at the Boring Awards in Toronto held Tuesday night.
Ottawa was named the most boring city.
Abbotsford was once the murder capital of Canada, but it appears to have done a 180 of sorts in recent years. It is now among the top 10 safest city in Canada.
One of the entries in Urban Dictionary about Abbotsford says:
“A city in British Columbia, Canada, where everything is boring and everybody wants to go to another town to do stuff”.
“My reaction is, I wonder what kind of spoof this is to be honest,” said Abbotsford Mayor Bruce Banman.
“I just came from a Carrie Underwood concert last night, I guess if you call that boring, I’m not sure what to call that,” he added. “We have fantastic professional hockey, we have the Abbotsford Air Show, the largest show of its kind in the world. We have thousands and thousands of events in Abbots ford every year.”
“Clearly whoever came up with this has never been to Abbotsford.”
Banman said he will give anyone a tour of the city if they want.
“It’s tranquil yet unbelievably exciting.”
One resident said they have the most beautiful girls in Abbotsford and in all of B.C.
