New Brunswick mother charged with hiding newborn baby’s body in snowbank

MONTEAGLE, NEW BRUNSWICK – A 30-year-old New Brunswick woman has been charged in connection with concealing the body of her newborn baby four years ago.

RCMP say the body of the baby boy was found in a snowbank on Taylor Road near Monteagle in April 2009.

The Mounties say Christine Margaret Wood of Riverview was arrested on Friday and appeared in provincial court by telephone Saturday on charges of concealing the body of a child.

She was remanded into police custody and is expected to appear in Moncton provincial court on May 21 for a bail hearing.

The RCMP’s Major Crime Unit have been trying to determine the identity of the child and the circumstances surrounding his death.

Police say officers were led to Wood through information received over the course of the investigation.
