OTTAWA – Four people have been rescued from a remote section of Gatineau Park northwest of Ottawa after their hot air balloon was forced to land there overnight due to high winds.
Police say the balloon, carrying two crew members and two passengers, was forced down Sunday night after a team tracking it from the ground lost sight of it.
Eventually, the tracking team established cellphone contact with the four, who reported they had come down near Luskville, Que.
Police say rescue crews reached the four stranded people on Monday morning and managed to bring them out of the park safely.
No injuries were reported.
The hot air balloon is the property of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival.
