Paul McCartney will play at Winnipeg’s new football stadium later this summer.
The former Beatle announced the tour date via Twitter and on his website Monday morning, scooping the official announcement at Investors Group Field by about an hour. True North Sports and Entertainment and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers had invited media to the stadium for a “historic” concert announcement.

McCartney’s Out There tour will play Winnipeg on Aug. 12. Tickets go on sale April 29 at 10 a.m.
It’s McCartney’s first visit to Winnipeg since his “New World” tour in 1993.
