The panel overseeing the Northern Gateway pipeline hearings says it hasn’t reached a decision on the project, despite releasing 199 conditions it says the company must meet to win approval.
In fact, the panel says the parties involved in the hearings have until the end of May to propose additional conditions as part of final, written arguments.
Among the conditions is one that requires the company to have $1 billion in liability insurance in the event of a catastrophic spill.
Ivan Giesbrecht of Northern Gateway Pipelines says the company is pleased to receive the conditions and is closely reviewing them.
