A serious police investigation is underway at Kitsilano Secondary School.

Sources tell Global News the case involves a teacher at the school, and possibly two students.

Allegations are believed to relate to a school trip that occurred two years ago.

Vancouver School Board officials say as soon as they heard about the allegations, they went right to police, adding the teacher in question is now on leave from the school. We understand it is paid leave.

Investigators from the Vancouver Police Department were at the school yesterday, however for now aren’t commenting on the obviously very sensitive file.

“This is incredibly rare,” said Kurt Heinrich from the Vancouver School Board, “and I can’t really comment on the specifics of any of the allegations. All I can say is that when we do hear of any sort of official allegations about any of our staff that have anything to do with the safety of our students we take it incredibly seriously.”
