SASKATOON – A woman has been charged with attempted murder after Saskatoon police discovered her injured six-year-old son on Thursday.
Around 7:15 p.m., police were called to the 400-block of 9th Street East in response to a child custody dispute where a father was attempting to pick up his 6- and 10-year-old sons.
Police say the 10-year-old boy opened the door saying he needed help as something was wrong inside.
Upon entry, a woman and a 6-year-old boy were found injured in a bathroom.
The 6-year-old had received a cut to the neck and stab wound to the abdomen. His mother had cuts to her wrists and stab wounds to her abdomen.
Both were taken to hospital in stable condition.
A 32-year-old female has now been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. She has made her first court appearance and has been remanded until Monday.
Members from the domestic violence unit and personal violence unit continue to investigate.
