BRAMPTON, Ont. – Four police officers in Peel Region are facing charges in a fight that investigators say left a 62-year-old man with a fractured nose as well as scrapes and bruises.
Police say the officers were off duty when they got into an altercation with another patron at a banquet hall in Brampton, northwest of Toronto, on Nov. 30.
They say Sgt. Bernard Webber, Const. Darren Barden and Const. Lance Kerec are charged with assault causing bodily harm and forcible confinement.
Staff Sgt. Doug Schulz is charged with being a party to assault causing bodily harm and forcible confinement.
The officers, who have been suspended without pay since the incident came to their supervisors’ attention, are due in court April 29.
