Winnipeg hip-hop artist to stand trial on drug charges

William Pierson, better known as Jon-C (middle) will stand trial in April. Handout

WINNIPEG – A member of award-winning hip-hop group Winnipeg’s Most is going to trial on drug charges.

William Pierson, better known as Jon-C, argued in court that the charges should be dropped.

He said police didn’t have a valid search warrant when they allegedly found cocaine and marijuana at his home in 2008.

But a judge ruled the warrant was valid and Pierson is to stand trial on trafficking charges sometime in April.

He also faces charges stemming from a separate drug raid last year.

Winnipeg’s Most has won multiple Aboriginal Music Awards, including best group in 2011.
