MONTREAL – A City of Montreal employee has reportedly taken his own life only a few hours after meeting with the Sûreté du Québec.
The former head of the licensing division in NDG was apparently interrogated at length on Friday by detectives from Quebec’s anti-corruption unit. The following day, he was found dead in his home by family members.
“It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Mr. Robert Rousseau, division head for the licensing of permits,” said Louise Harel, the leader of the official opposition, Vision Montreal, in a statement.
“We offer all our condolences and sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues, who knew him for many years.”
An NDG borough spokesperson confirmed that the employee’s colleagues were informed of his death on Monday morning but had no further comment on the subject.
