New price record set for single-family home in Calgary’s luxury housing market

CALGARY – Someone believes five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a carriage house and a yoga studio under one roof in Calgary is well worth $10.35 million.

That’s the new record price that was set this week for the sale of a single-family house in Alberta’s largest city.

The French country-castle style abode in the Aspen Woods neighbourhood measures more than 1,350 square metres.

It had originally been listed at $12 million, but was reduced recently to a mere $11.495 million.

Anne-Marie Lurie, chief economist with the Calgary Real Estate Board, says the current trend is a rise in the city’s luxury housing market.

The previous record sale in Calgary was $10.3 million for a house in Elbow Park-Glencoe that belonged to former Calgary Flames’ goalie Mike Vernon. (CHQR)
